Churchill's Three Simple Truths Of History

Image
What is truth? That seems like a difficult question to answer these days. We are living in an era where truth seems hard to define. Truth is defined as a verified or indisputable fact, principle, proposition, or the like. History shows us truths that generation after generation fail to understand and acknowledge. Winston Churchill recognized three simple truths years ago and it behooves us to learn them in our present world in which we live. Failing to learn these historical truths only makes our current world that much more dangerous than it need be. So what are these three simple truths of history? 1) Socialism Sucks Yes, this may be blunt, but it seems to be the best way to drive the point home. History has shown us time and time again that socialism has been a complete and utter failure everywhere it has been tried. Venezuela is just the latest example of how a country once rich in oil and natural resources squandered it by pursuing the socialist ideology. The list is l

The Left's Fiery Pit Of Hell

Image
"This is not a job interview. This is Hell. This is the most unethical sham I have ever seen in politics. And if you really wanted to know the truth, you sure as hell wouldn't have done what you've done to this guy...Boy, y'all want power. God, I hope you never get it." ~ Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) Brett Kavanaugh expected a tough time facing off against Democrats in his confirmation hearings. One of the duties of the U.S. Senate is to give advice and consent on Supreme Court nominations. Article II, Section II of the Constitution states that the President of the United States "shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, judges of the Supreme Court, and all other officers of the United States whose appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by law." It does not state anywhere in the Constitution that those nominees be su

A Bitter Deal Versus A Raw Deal

Image
Choices. Life is all about choices. God gives us free will to pick and choose how we want to live. Most choices we face are mundane. White bread or wheat? Coke or water? In the short term there isn't much of a real consequence. In the long term there might be more severe consequences. Coke may taste better than water and be quite thirst quenching but it can rot out your stomach lining and teeth over years of drinking it. Every choice has a certain consequence that goes with it be it positive or negative. Some choices are very clear and distinct while others are more difficult and blurred. Same goes for elections and who we choose to vote for. With the midterms this November there will be a choice between a bitter deal or a raw deal. If you choose to cast your vote for Democratic Party candidates and a "Blue Wave" sweeps across our republic ushering in a Democrat controlled United States House and Senate then you will have opted for a bitter deal. They will more than

The Media's Dereliction Of Duty

Image
When CNN's Jim Acosta says that the press is not the enemy one has to chuckle just a bit. This would be the same press who had an eight year love affair with President Obama and completely gave that administration a big wet kiss day in and day out. Then the unthinkable happened. Hillary Clinton didn't get to take the throne even after the media did all they could to pave the road and cheerlead her on to what they hoped would be her inevitable victory over Donald Trump. So they decided to go from being the adoring fans of the previous administration to being petulant sniveling resistance fighters with a single goal of undermining a duly elected president. In the minds of the progressive elites in the press they are just freedom fighters these days. Glorious as it sounds they have succeeded in making their profession a joke. They have succumbed to their deep liberal biases and beliefs and succeeded in becoming derelict in their duty as journalists. Pew Research Center di

The Left's Double Standard

Image
I wrote a piece several weeks ago entitled, The Inconsistency Of The Left. In it, I highlighted how the progressive crowd is in full support of a woman's right to choose to have an abortion but they want to restrict that same woman from having a gun to protect herself and her family. On one hand they champion an individual's liberty and on the other they champion the rights of the collective and throw away individual liberty. The Left pick and choose as they go depending on what fits their needs at the time. Not surprising then that this double standard is also applied to people in the entertainment industry as well. With the Roseanne Barr story fresh and the ink still not dry we get another celebrity who has given us a chance to see this glaring double standard. Samantha Bee is a comedian on a late-night television show called, Full Frontal, which airs on TBS. Many may not even know her but she is surely screaming for more attention. She called Ivanka Trump a "fe

Living In A Prison Of The Mind

Image
What could possibly be worse than living in a dark lonely prison cell for the rest of your life on earth? Maybe, just maybe, living in a dark lonely prison cell deep in the recesses of one's own mind. The likelihood of Hillary Clinton ever seeing the inside of a prison cell for her crimes is about slim to none. Many people would find the mere image of Hillary in chains being led to prison a moment of gleeful justice. But in lieu of that day of justice maybe the silver lining is that she is living a tortured life within the confines of a prison cell in her mind where she is both the prisoner and the jailer. As Mrs. Clinton makes her rounds giving continuous speeches and commencement addresses over the last year and a half it becomes quite clear she is a tortured soul. Speaking to Yale University's graduating class several days ago she said she's "still not over" losing to President Trump in the 2016 election. "I remember the first months after that

Why We Need To Reconnect With Our Past

Image
"One of the signs of a great society is the diligence with which it passes culture from one generation to the next. This culture is the embodiment of everything the people of that society hold dear: it's religious faith, it's heroes...when one generation no longer esteems it's own heritage and fails to pass the torch to its children, it is saying in essence that the very foundational principles and experiences that make the society what it is are no longer valid. This leaves that generation without any sense of definition or direction, making them the fulfillment of Karl Marx's dictum, 'A people without a heritage are easily persuaded.' What is required when this happens and the society has lost its way, is for leaders to arise who have not forgotten the discarded legacy and who love it with all their hearts. They can then become the voice of that lost generation, wooing an errant generation back to the faith of their fathers, back to the ancient foundatio

The Inconsistency Of The Left

Image
In the midst of a renewed debate on gun-control and the Second Amendment a truth has crystallized before our very eyes. That truth is the Left is rife with inconsistencies in their arguments and ideological beliefs. That may not come as a shock to some but it is worth highlighting nonetheless. In the current assault by liberals on the right to bear arms they argue that it is for the collective good and safety of our children to limit who can possess a gun. They argue that collective rights supersede individual rights when it comes to the Second Amendment. However, when it comes to the abortion debate they make the complete opposite argument. They always claim it is a woman's right to choose and her individual rights are of the utmost importance. Herein lies the real crux of the matter. The Second Amendment is not ambiguous in any way. It states, "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, sh

A Boy And The Rock

Image
Many years ago there was a shy little boy who was struggling to find his way in the world. He was a tall skinny boy who wasn't one of the popular kids in school. As kids are known to do, this boy was teased and picked on all throughout his formative years. With cries of toothpick and stick among the nicknames he heard often, this boy often wondered why he was made to endure this kind of teasing. Where could he find solace and refuge? His solace and refuge became a big rock underneath an old oak tree in a field across from where he lived. On a beautiful day during the school year you would find him on that rock having a long chat with God. They would chat, or should I say, the little boy would chat and God would listen. The boy would ask why God made him this way and what his purpose was in this world. That boy never received any audible answers but he felt the presence of God as he talked and cast his cares and worries upon that rock. That boy was reminded of a verse in the bo

Do We Have A Gun Problem Or A Culture Problem?

Image
The awful tragedy in Parkland, Florida filled the news on Valentine's Day. A day of love was superseded by pain and unthinkable heartache when a 19-year-old former student entered Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and killed seventeen people. There had been numerous warning signs and red flags that Nikolas Cruz was a ticking time bomb. Those signs were either ignored or dismissed by police, FBI agents, and others. With stories such as this, the gun-control crowd comes out in full force with renewed cries to ban guns and stop the violence. While that may sound like a simple solution it is purely a political stunt to prey on the emotions of those who want something done. The question is whether we have a gun problem or a culture problem in America? Let's look at the facts and the data from a completely honest and straightforward view. No spin or political games, just honesty. There are roughly 300 million guns in America and about 33,000 deaths by guns. Of those deaths by

The Hypocrisy Of Republicans

Image
"When the Democrats are in power, Republicans appear to be the conservative party. But when Republicans are in power, it seems there is no conservative party." ~ Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) When Senator Rand Paul stood up on the floor of the United States Senate on Thursday and went on a long tirade pointing out the amount of wasteful spending of taxpayer money you knew he would catch the ire of many of his colleagues. He was called a showman and a brash carnival barker who is the "perennial annoying gadfly" in Washington. All that may be true, but the one thing Mr. Paul is more than anything else, is honest. More often than not you get lip service from the career politicians roaming the corridors of the Capitol. It's rather refreshing to hear an honest voice speaking up and calling out the hypocrisy in Washington. The common drumbeat of the Republicans throughout the Obama years was that we needed to come out and vote for them to give them control of th

What Is The Democrats Endgame?

Image
President Trump has been in office now for just over a year and we have heard the same mantra from the Democrats. That narrative is a game of "Blame and Shame". Your game show hosts are a general mix of ne'er-do-wells from the somewhat lucid Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi to the more mentally unstable Maxine Waters. It involves such shaming as calling Mr. Trump mentally unstable, unfit for office, colluding with Russia, an illegitimate president, a general obstructionist of justice, a sexual predator, and lest we forget to mention, the new Hitler. Yes, the Democrats are not lacking in their creativity skills. But what is their endgame? Surely, they can't think this game of blame and shame will get them back in power? History says that the Democrats do have a good chance of gaining seats and momentum in the midterm elections. History is usually a good guide and most bettors in Vegas look for trends. Midterms tend to bring much lower voter turnout than presidential

The Silence Of The Lambs

Living in the Bible Belt, one would think that a gubernatorial candidate in Tennessee wanting to hold a Homeland Security Summit at a Christian university with a primary focus on Islamic terrorism wouldn't be very controversial. But in this current world in which we live, you would be wrong. The gubernatorial candidate is Mae Beavers, a conservative Republican, and the Christian university is Trevecca Nazarene University. The summit was scheduled to take place on January 25th on the campus of Trevecca featuring three guest lecturers who specialize in Islamic studies and terrorism. The speakers were Dr. Bill Warner, Cathy Hinners, and John Guandolo. So why would this public summit be abruptly cancelled after tickets had already been sold? Trevecca Nazarene University released this statement in regards to the cancellation of the event: "Throughout our history, Trevecca has consistently offered political candidates of both parties the opportunity to use our campus for eve
