A Tale Of Two Americas
As President Richard Nixon took that final walk to Marine One on August 9th, 1974, he surely never imagined that forty plus years later, Hillary Clinton might indeed take that same walk as President of the United States and have committed far worse offenses than himself. This is a tale of two Americas. The America of 1973-74 and the America of 2012-16. Forty years separate these two Americas, but you could say, they are separated by light years. For one man, he left a presidency in disgrace and did what was best for the American people. For one woman, she is forever emboldened on her long mission to become the first woman President of the United States, despite a string of disgraceful actions. This is a tale that must be told and only history can properly put it in perspective.
Richard Nixon was inaugurated on January 20th, 1973 and was embarking on his second term in the White House after a thorough landslide win over Democrat George McGovern the previous November of 1972. On May 17th, 1973 the Senate Watergate Committee began nationally televised hearings and the American people were enthralled and appalled by the details of the whole scandal. From finding out President Nixon had secret tapes to the details of the break in and planting of surveillance bugs at the Democratic National Committee offices in the Watergate Building Complex to who was all involved, the public became more and more astonished and upset by the sheer abuses of power. As more individuals were indicted and the dots were connected, it became clear that President Nixon, at the very least, had knowledge of some, if not all, of the plan. By July of 1974, Congress moved to impeach Nixon and it was quite certain that there were enough votes to convict him. On August 8th, 1974, President Nixon delivers his resignation speech before a nationally televised audience and on August 9th, he takes his last walk to Marine One and leaves the White House as the one and only president in history to resign office.
On September 11th, 2012, the American consulate and CIA compound in Benghazi, Libya came under attack by a terrorist group associated with al-Qaeda. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others were killed in the attack, which the Obama Administration and then Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, claimed was due to an anti-Muslim YouTube video. As the details and facts have surfaced through several years of hearings and testimony, it has become perfectly clear that Mrs. Clinton knew this was a terrorist attack from the beginning and made up the YouTube video to hide the truth during a very important 2012 election campaign. Orders were given to "Stand Down", and no help was sent to aid in the defense of the consulate and compound. When asked under direct questioning in the Benghazi Hearings, Mrs. Clinton told Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), "What does it matter? They're dead!". She has continued to grow more and more emboldened and steadfast in denying the truth of that night in Benghazi. It looks like she will be the Democrat Party nominee for President of the United States in November, and unlike former President Nixon, has no plans to step aside in disgrace. So what exactly can we draw from this tale of two Americas?
In the span of forty plus years, we have slowly and steadily transformed from a country that still had some morals and ethics, to a country that has gone down the path of moral decay. An American public that was so appalled and upset by the sheer abuses of power by Richard Nixon, have today just accepted and whitewashed much more appalling and unimaginable abuses of power by Hillary Clinton. President Nixon abused his power for political gain as did Hillary Clinton. The difference between them is that four Americans died with her abuses of power. Hillary Clinton makes Richard Nixon look like a choir boy after all is said and done. The fact that Mrs. Clinton may become the first woman President of the United States will only be a footnote in history. For history will definitely remember her as the marking point and face of the collapse of a once great republic. Mrs. Clinton epitomizes the United States today. She, like our republic, is morally, ethically, politically, and spiritualy bankrupt. History holds a mirror up to us and shows us in all truth and candor, that this tale of two Americas is a stark contrast and a sad commentary on how much we have fallen as a nation.
