Life, Liberty, And The Pursuit Of Happiness
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Three very unique words intricately woven into The Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson didn't just pull these words out of thin air. He had a distinct purpose in choosing these particular words. It is important to note that these "unalienable rights" are not given to us by government but are endowed by God, our Creator. Our republic was established by our founding fathers to allow each individual to live life in freedom and pursue happiness in whatever ways they saw fit. Unfortunately, over time, we have seen these particular unalienable rights infringed upon more and more by a growing government interference in our lives. There is a certain segment of our republic who don't believe in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They believe in death, tyranny, and the pursuit of misery. Instead of freedom and liberty they aim for chaos, anarchy, fascism, socialism, and communism. Make no mistake, there is an ideological war raging in our republic. It is as stark of a contrast as you can find. It is a war between freedom and liberty on one side and tyranny and control on the other side. But before we go further, we must define some terms.
What Is Life?
What Is Liberty?
What Is The Pursuit Of Happiness?
What Is Anarchy?
What Is Fascism?
What Is Socialism?
What Is Communism?
Now that we have defined these terms and have a clearer understanding, we can explore this ideological war a bit further. This war hasn't just begun. It has been going on for many years now. Some have noticed it in their everyday lives more and more over the last several years. From soda taxes, cigarette taxes, healthcare, and numerous other areas of our lives, there has been a marked increase in government trying to run our life. The progressive elites feel they know what's best for you. They don't think you are wise enough or capable enough to decide how to live your life. They want to control your life from the cradle to the grave. That is completely antithetical to what our founding fathers believed.
I will use the analogy of a frog in boiling water to show where we are at in this moment in time. If you place a frog in boiling water, he will jump out. Now, if you place that same frog in a pot of water and slowly and incrementally increase the heat, he will stay in the water and eventually die and cook in the boiling water. We have become accustomed to having our freedom and liberty slowly infringed upon and taken away little by little. We rationalize it and accept it. We may trade away more freedom and liberty for some perceived security in return. We seem to accept that as a fair trade-off. Unfortunately, you will get to a point where you have put yourself back in the chains of tyranny.
The generation of our founding fathers believed strongly in freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They lived it, breathed it, and were passionately devoted to our republic. The next generation still mostly believed in those ideals and principles of our founding fathers but started to live in compromise. The generation we are in now has decided to live in full rebellion and disregard our founding fathers beliefs. It has been a slow and steady turn away from freedom and liberty and inching more and more towards socialism. So what will be the end result of this ideological war?
I am not sure how this will end. I wrote a piece in October 2016 entitled, The Demise Of A Republic. I wrote it before the presidential election and I highlighted how the progressives have laid the foundation and built the framework for the demise of America as we know it. This ideological divide is only going to become more and more stark. The Democratic Party has no plans to move to the center. They plan to move even further to the left and fully embrace the tenets of socialism and communism. Sen. Elizabeth Warren made that perfectly clear in her speech this past weekend. Here is a link to her comments:
And the Antifa, Anti-Fascists, are planning to become even more active in promoting chaos and anarchy in the coming months. Here is a link to an article from The Daily Caller:
My hope is that freedom and liberty are in the DNA of the American people. I hope that this pendulum will swing back to our founding fathers and our constitution and that the American people will instinctively realize that socialism and communism are a road to misery, despair, tyranny, and death. My hope is that Jefferson, Adams, and Washington still hold enough wisdom and insight in the minds of a majority of Americans to stop the train before we head off the tracks. It is an ideological war that constitutional conservatives are losing. My fear is that too many people have stayed in that water for too long and it is reaching the full boiling point to cook us all. It can't be any clearer. It's a choice of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness versus death, tyranny, and the pursuit of misery. As for me, give me liberty or give me death.
