The Inconsistency Of The Left

In the midst of a renewed debate on gun-control and the Second Amendment a truth has crystallized before our very eyes. That truth is the Left is rife with inconsistencies in their arguments and ideological beliefs. That may not come as a shock to some but it is worth highlighting nonetheless. In the current assault by liberals on the right to bear arms they argue that it is for the collective good and safety of our children to limit who can possess a gun. They argue that collective rights supersede individual rights when it comes to the Second Amendment. However, when it comes to the abortion debate they make the complete opposite argument. They always claim it is a woman's right to choose and her individual rights are of the utmost importance. Herein lies the real crux of the matter.

The Second Amendment is not ambiguous in any way. It states, "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." Those on the Left, like former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, believe the Second Amendment is an "18th century relic" that is outdated and should be repealed. They see the Constitution as a living breathing document that can be morphed and changed to fit their progressive worldview. What Mr. Stevens glosses over and fails to see is the actual intent and reason the founding fathers included the Second Amendment. The first part is the preamble to set the stage for the main point. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is a natural right given by God and not to be impaired by government. It is an individual right, not a collective right, and it clearly states that it shall not be infringed. So why do we bear arms?

We bear arms, according to our founding fathers, for several reasons. The first reason is to prevent rule by a standing army. The second reason is to prevent Congress from executing unjust and unconstitutional laws. The third reason is to prevent the federal government from becoming unjust and oppressive. The fourth reason is the people bearing arms should be superior to an army controlled by Congress to prevent and be a safeguard against tyranny. The last reason is it promotes the God-given right of self defense. These are not "18th century relics" but timeless truths.

But liberals don't honor timeless truths or care to acknowledge historical facts. They like to play word games and have their cake and eat it too. Here is what I mean. The founding fathers believed "that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights." Among those rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Those rights also extend to the unborn babies in the womb. The Left doesn't acknowledge those babies have rights and exist until they are born. They choose to use children as pawns and tools to take down the Second Amendment claiming if only one life is saved it will be worth it. Yet, in staunchly defending abortion they have unapologetically killed millions of babies in the womb and denied them their right to life because they deem a woman's right to choose trumps the right of that baby. On one side they tout individual liberty to defend a woman's right to choose an abortion but they choose to deny that same woman a right to keep and bear arms to defend herself and her property. The right to an abortion isn't anywhere in the Constitution or Bill of Rights but the right to keep and bear arms is. This is the inconsistency of the Left. Their arguments lack any logic or reason.

What the Left counts on is keeping the mass public as ignorant as possible so it will submit to whatever is dictated to it. They choose to parse words and play word games in hopes that will effectively mask their ultimate goal. Words have meaning. The Constitution and The Bill of Rights have meaning and they are timeless. The more a republic is filled with people who have the ability to reason and logically dissect issues and arguments the more freedom and liberty that republic has. On the flip side, the more ignorant and apathetic the people are the less liberty and freedom reigns. The ultimate goal of the Left is to do away with not only the Second Amendment but our Constitution altogether. When the liberals talk about the collective good and collective liberty they are talking about socialism and communism. Liberty is not collective, it is personal. All liberty is individual liberty. Our founding fathers knew this and fought to break out of the chains of tyranny. The Left doesn't want people to notice the glaring inconsistencies in their arguments and ideological worldview. They want ignorance to reign over reason and logic. The only way for them to get the American people into the chains of tyranny once again is to keep them ignorant and apathetic. The Left can then make that final push to socialism and communism by making the ignorant masses submit to whatever is dictated to them. If they can take away the Second Amendment then the road to tyranny and oppression is all but laid.
