A tragedy is defined as a play dealing with tragic events and having an unhappy ending, especially one involving the downfall of the main character. That main character is typically brought down by his/her own flaws, which usually tend to be ordinary human flaws. Given America's current political landscape there are numerous words that could be chosen to describe how a once great constitutional republic has found itself in the midst of a Bolshevik revolution. Ironic, for a country who fought against fascism and communism, that it now finds those same fascistic winds blowing in the land of the free. However ironic it is, tragic most aptly sums up how America has fallen due to its own flaws. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Three very unique words intricately woven into The Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson didn't just pull these words out of thin air. He had a distinct purpose in choosing these particular words. It is important to note that these "unalienable rights" are not given to us by government but are endowed by God, our Creator. By now, most people have heard the liberals comparing President Trump to Adolf Hitler. One can assume this is due to Trump's immigration reform policies, his stance on Muslims and Muslim refugees, his ongoing conflicts with the mainstream media and print journalism, and his campaign slogan of "Make America Great Again". The more interesting analysis is why they would exactly do this. There are a couple reasons one can conclude for this. One reason would be they are not well-versed in German history and have just a cursory knowledge of NAZI Germany and thus don't honestly know the facts and truth of history. History, above all else, gives us the knowledge and insight, if we are wise enough to use it, to hopefully learn from previous experiences. The quote that begins this piece is an excerpt from "The Finest Hour" speech given in 1940 by Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill. The battle he is referring to is the battle against fascism and the likes of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. Yet, this same quote fits perfectly with our current battle against Islam. This may be the most important battle we have faced since World War II and yet few people are willing to acknowledge it. Islam is the new fascism of today.
