Symptoms Of A Great National Malaise

Image
There is a great malaise that is prevalent throughout America. It's growing deeper and stronger with each passing day. There are some of us who recognize this and are awake. Unfortunately, many others are ignorant and apathetic. This sickness is a spiritual and intellectual disease. Take a look around. On any given day you will find news stories filled with examples of the depravity and licentiousness that eat away at the soul of our republic.  This past week the voters of Ohio came to the polls to approve Issue 1 which moved the line for a legal abortion from 21 weeks and six days to 40 weeks. There are eight million registered voters in Ohio but only slightly more than two million that actually cast ballots. Thus, only one in four registered Ohio voters decided for the entire state. The proponents put this on the ballot on an off-election year rather than next year for a presidential election for obvious reasons. One cannot blame them for being shrewd and taking advantage ...

The American Version Of Mao's Cultural Revolution

Image
In August 1966, Mao Zedong launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution in China to reassert ideological purity and purge what he saw was a growing embrace of bourgeois values and a diminishing revolutionary spirit. The goal was to rid the Chinese population of the "Four Olds". Those consisted of old customs, old culture, old habits, and old ideas. It was meant to be a cleansing, if you will, and a transforming of an old China into an ideologically pure nation worthy to continue in Mao's vision. Now, fifty-five years later, we are witnessing an American version of Mao's Cultural Revolution.  This neo-Marxist "Cultural Revolution" in America hasn't happened overnight. It has been a steady and systematic assault on God, American values, American historical icons, and our Constitution. It has accelerated over the past year and it will continue to gain momentum given that Democrats are in control.  This revolution was in its infancy during the late 1...

An American Tragedy

Image
A tragedy is defined as a play dealing with tragic events and having an unhappy ending, especially one involving the downfall of the main character. That main character is typically brought down by his/her own flaws, which usually tend to be ordinary human flaws. Given America's current political landscape there are numerous words that could be chosen to describe how a once great constitutional republic has found itself in the midst of a Bolshevik revolution. Ironic, for a country who fought against fascism and communism, that it now finds those same fascistic winds blowing in the land of the free. However ironic it is, tragic most aptly sums up how America has fallen due to its own flaws. Those flaws include ignorance, apathy, a broken moral compass, a loss of patriotism, and a distinct move away from God.     Just forty years ago, Ronald Reagan ushered in an American revival. After the dark malaise of the Carter years, he infused a shot of patriotism and energy that reinvig...

Why We Need To Reconnect With Our Past

Image
"One of the signs of a great society is the diligence with which it passes culture from one generation to the next. This culture is the embodiment of everything the people of that society hold dear: it's religious faith, it's heroes...when one generation no longer esteems it's own heritage and fails to pass the torch to its children, it is saying in essence that the very foundational principles and experiences that make the society what it is are no longer valid. This leaves that generation without any sense of definition or direction, making them the fulfillment of Karl Marx's dictum, 'A people without a heritage are easily persuaded.' What is required when this happens and the society has lost its way, is for leaders to arise who have not forgotten the discarded legacy and who love it with all their hearts. They can then become the voice of that lost generation, wooing an errant generation back to the faith of their fathers, back to the ancient foundatio...

Who Was The Real Winner In Alabama?

Image
Yes, Democrat Doug Jones defeated Judge Roy Moore in the special election this past week in Alabama. One would assume that Jones and the Democratic Party were the big winners and that President Trump and Judge Moore were the big losers. If you listened to the mainstream media and the political elites that would be the general consensus. But that is not the best analysis. No, the real winner in Alabama was the weaponizing of allegations to tar and feather an innocent man. There is a difference between allegations and evidence. There were numerous allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct thrown at Judge Moore but little signs of any real solid evidence. Unlike in a court of law, in the High Court of Public Opinion you are considered guilty until proven innocent. That becomes a far more difficult threshold for an accused person to overcome when the media runs out a plethora of accusers and pundits to infer you are guilty as charged. Yes, in this court, jumping to conclusions is ...

The Real Essence Of Thanksgiving

Image
Thanksgiving is filled with amazing aromas that trigger memories of days gone by. Remembering those childhood days at my grandparents and the sights and sounds of a bustling kitchen. The smell of the turkey roasting in the oven as it mixes with the smells of the cranberries, mashed potatoes, carrots, fruit salad, and pumpkin pie. The sound of laughter and banter from aunts and uncles, parents, grandparents, and cousins. Thanksgiving Day is truly a uniquely American holiday that combines food and drink with family and friends. We all get lost in the smells, sights, and sounds of the day but most of us fail to grasp the real essence of Thanksgiving. Well beyond the tastes of food and the football games there lies a core centerpiece to Thanksgiving. That centerpiece is celebrating the fruits of your labor for the year past and giving thanks to God for all of the rich blessings that have been bestowed on us. The core values of hard work and self-determination make the bountiful har...

Memorial Day: Honoring Our Brave

Image
Memorial Day is a special day to remember and honor those brave soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice, so all of us could continue to live in freedom and liberty. From Normandy to Vietnam to Korea to Iwo Jima and numerous other battlefields throughout the world, our finest soldiers fought against the evils of fascism and communism to help preserve our security and give others the hope of living in freedom. Freedom isn't free my friends, and it comes with a price. The soldiers we honor today, hopefully remind us of that, as our republic continues to bend and crack in these tumultuous times. As you embark on celebrating this holiday, I would ask you to take a few moments to honor and remember these brave men and women, and thank God that such people lived. Without these folks, our republic may have succumbed to fascism or communism. The battles we have yet had to fight, are on the horizon, and they loom large. We will need to summon that same honor and courage and duty to fig...

While You Were Asleep

Image
At some point in time over the last several years, you fell asleep. You didn't mean to, but you became weary and exhausted. Who could really fault you? It happened to most of us if we are honest with ourselves. We all got lost in our own lives and became oblivious to the rest of the country and the world. We are human, and we all have faults. Now, you are slowly waking up from your deep sleep, and wondering what has happened to America. You don't recognize the country you grew up in? Well, let me tell you what happened while you were asleep my friend. While you were asleep, a vocal minority steamrolled their progressive liberal ideology through a sleeping silent majority. They did so in various ways, my friend. Through numerous lawsuits and activist judges ruling in their favor, through a liberal Democrat President of the United States issuing executive orders, and through legislation in various states and municipalities throughout our republic. Yes my friend, Congress fel...

The America I Knew

Image
I grew up in a small suburban town just north of Milwaukee, WI in the 1970's and 1980's. My parents were middle-class hard working folks who always provided a safe and loving home for my brother and myself. It was, by most standards, your typical small town with a McDonald's and a Ben Franklin store and several churches of varying denominations. The elementary and middle school were just a block up the street from our first house and the baseball field and basketball courts were easily accessible for kids like myself to play all day long in the summer. So what is the America I knew? The America I knew was a place where a kid could hope and dream the biggest dreams, and if he put his heart and mind to it, could achieve them and more. It was a place where neighbors knew one another and helped out in times of need. It was a place where families ate dinner together around the kitchen table and talked about their days. It was a place where families gathered at church on Sun...
