"One of the signs of a great society is the diligence with which it passes culture from one generation to the next. This culture is the embodiment of everything the people of that society hold dear: it's religious faith, it's heroes...when one generation no longer esteems it's own heritage and fails to pass the torch to its children, it is saying in essence that the very foundational principles and experiences that make the society what it is are no longer valid. This leaves that generation without any sense of definition or direction, making them the fulfillment of Karl Marx's dictum, 'A people without a heritage are easily persuaded.' What is required when this happens and the society has lost its way, is for leaders to arise who have not forgotten the discarded legacy and who love it with all their hearts. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Three very unique words intricately woven into The Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson didn't just pull these words out of thin air. He had a distinct purpose in choosing these particular words. It is important to note that these "unalienable rights" are not given to us by government but are endowed by God, our Creator. Our republic was established by our founding fathers to allow each individual to live life in freedom and pursue happiness in whatever ways they saw fit. Thanksgiving is filled with amazing aromas that trigger memories of days gone by. Remembering those childhood days at my grandparents and the sights and sounds of a bustling kitchen. The smell of the turkey roasting in the oven as it mixes with the smells of the cranberries, mashed potatoes, carrots, fruit salad, and pumpkin pie. The sound of laughter and banter from aunts and uncles, parents, grandparents, and cousins. Thanksgiving Day is truly a uniquely American holiday that combines food and drink with family and friends. We all get lost in the smells, sights, and sounds of the day but most of us fail to grasp the real essence of Thanksgiving. Well beyond the tastes of food and the football games there lies a core centerpiece to Thanksgiving. Throughout history, there have been numerous people who have been truly special leaders and statesmen. It is not unusual to find one in a particular decade of history. If you manage to get two such unique statesmen in one decade, count it a blessing. But it is quite rare indeed, when you get three such individuals on the world stage at the same time. The...

Memorial Day is a special day to remember and honor those brave soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice, so all of us could continue to live in freedom and liberty. From Normandy to Vietnam to Korea to Iwo Jima and numerous other battlefields throughout the world, our finest soldiers fought against the evils of fascism and communism to help preserve our security and give others the hope of living in freedom. Freedom isn't free my friends, and it comes with a price. The soldiers we honor today, hopefully remind us of that, as our republic continues to bend and crack in these tumultuous times. As you embark on celebrating this holiday, I would ask you to take a few moments to honor and remember these brave men and women, and thank God that such people lived. On May 14th, 1948, Israel became a country. It is roughly the size of New Jersey with about eight million people. It sits precariously among several Arab and Muslim dominated countries. It is a parliamentary democracy and remains the sole democracy in the Middle East. They have consistently sided with the United States and have been a staunch ally from the start. In recent years, that relationship between America and Israel has been seriously strained, with the Obama Administration winding up at odds with Israel on several fronts. So what makes this tiny country so very vital to America? First of all, it is their location.
